A Ruffle
by Mary Ellen South
A ruffle is usually made of fine lace,
Swirled about as the maiden turns.
Her Mother stitched the dress out of love,
She'll wear it to her first dance,
Creating a magical sight.
Nature has created a ruffle,
Balanced by a lace of fern.
Mother Nature fashioned one of sawdust,
Painted it copper from earth's treasure
Beauty hidden deep in the forrest glen.
Gifts from two mothers for us to appreciate.
